SOFT FURNISHINGS

Our qualities may be divided into two categories:  those for the outer product, i.e on show, and those hidden from view as interlining

Outer fabrics include 100% cotton curtaining and upholstery materials, similar qualities made in cotton/linen union. These may be  finished natural unbleached , prepared for print  or bleached white or dyed , also p for p.

For orders in excess of 500 metres any quality may be rendered flame-retardant  to BS5867/Part 2

Our curtain interlining range comprises domets and bumps in 100% cotton varying in weight from 100 gsm. to 450 gsm. Also two weights of synthetic stitchbond , commonly known as Sarille,  160 gsm and 240gsm.

Upholstery liners in 4 oz. and 6oz. weights, unbleached, with or without flame-retardancy to BS5852, as well as a Schedule 3 Crib 5 interliner.

We stock feather-resistant ticking in three colours, and flame-retardant black Bolton Twill for dim-out purposes

Morvern were one of the earliest producers of buckram for curtain headings, pelmets & tie-backs.  We now sell a range of products in sew-in, single sided fusible & double-sided fusible in 100% cotton, a polyester needlefelt, and two grades of stiffened Hessian.  Pre-cut tie-back shapes are available for workrooms or packaged for retail sales.



INDUSTRIAL FABRICS

Historically the company produced textile for a hundred and one uses, either for consumption in processing or as part of the finished product.  We manufactured filter material for paint & fine varnishes, speciality lacquers for boats and for computer cabinets, for powder coating, and for water filtration plant.  We supplied substrate for roof repair membrane, various high-tech. qualities for composite hose for ship-to-shore and road tankers.

At one time Morvern produced several million metres of cotton pocketing for jeans.

Gradually most of these applications reduced their use of textile as technology introduced other manufacturing techniques.
